Morphogenesis is based out of New Delhi and Pune and is in the process of setting up an architecture school in India. The firm was set up in 1996 and is currently a conglomerate of architects, interior designers, landscape architects and graphic designers. The practice handling projects across varied and complex typologies ranging from Corporate Offices, IT Offices, IT SEZs, Townships to Mixed Use and Housing developments. At Morphogenesis sustainability has always been at the core all through the evolution of the design process. The practice considers the widening scope of sustainability to be all inclusive; to include social, cultural, financial and environmental sustainability. It is the practices’ belief that this all inclusive nature of the design process will lead to the definition of the new emergent architecture.
The research work is aimed at developing evolutionary and generative systems, achieving in the built and virtual environments, the characteristic symbiotic behavior and metabolic balance found in the natural environment. The work uses computational techniques to model the inner logic of morphogenetic pro- cesses in nature and offers an evolutionary approach towards the creation of form, structure and organisation in physical and virtual architecture.
Sanjay Bharadwaj
Graduated from the School of planning and Architecture and has been a Director in Morphogenesis since 2002. He has 15 years of extensive experience in master planning, design and execution of projects and has been on several design juries.
Manit Rastogi
Manit Rastogi is a founder member of Morphogenesis which was formed in 1996 after completing his AA Diploma for which he was awarded Honours and the Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Energy Design for which he was awarded distinction at the Architectural Association. He has taught at the Architectural Association, London; School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi; and the Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute; and has been a juror on several design and award juries. Manit is currently the Managing Director at morphogenesis which is a conglomerate of architects, interior designers, landscape architects and graphic designers..
Sonali Srivastava Rastogi
Graduated from the Architectural Association, London with a graduate diploma in Housing and a second graduate diploma in Graduate Design(Now design Research lab), Sonali has been a director in the practice since 1996. Her experience and expertise in Architectural and Interior design has been recognized by way of numerous awards and accolades including the YFLO Woman Achiever of the Year Award in 2006, recognition as one of the 10 leading women architects in India by A+D 2007 and India Today magazine features her as pre-eminent Indian woman architect.
Vijay Dahiya
Vijay Dahiya graduated from DYPCET Maharashtra and has been a part of Morphogenesis since December 2000. Vijay has had tremendous knowledge and experience across complex typologies ranging from Mixed Use Developments, Hospitality, Office Complexes and IT facilities across the country.
Philosophy
Morphogenesis:the process of development of form, structure and organization in nature.
We, at Morphogenesis, view our practice as an architectural laboratory, constantly trying to expand the boundaries of design and building. Aiming to engage and materialize the paradigm shift in an increasingly connected world, we approach design by defining the project context afresh and examine the dissolution of physical context, incorporating local, non-local, physical, and non-physical issues.
We believe that the pervasiveness of design requires that no distinction be made between building types. Hence, all Morphogenesis projects follow an extensive theoretical examination. Our endeavor is to design in a non-deterministic and democratic manner, viewing all buildings as products of the constantly evolving process.
Working across widely divergent project scales, typologies and environmental conditions is our constant endeavour. Variety being an enrichment of our own cross-referencing system, we approach all projects with the same zeal and enthusiasm and the same passion for detail. Strongly believing in the progress of architectural technology and engineering and its widening scope of operation, Morphogenesis considers existing and emergent technologies and systems design as its core competency. Our research oriented approach to building engineering, materials and construction technology allows us to continuously experiment with new architectures in search for tectonic perfection.
All through the evolution of our design process, sustainability has always been at its core. We, at Morphogenesis, consider the widening scope of sustainability to be all inclusive; to include social, cultural, financial and environmental sustainability. It is this all inclusive nature of our design process that we believe, will define the new emergent architecture.
