Client: Mahindra Lifespaces

Status: Under Construction

Size: 14,00,000 sq ft | 8 acres

The Mahindra Luminare project is situated in Gurugram, a suburb of New Delhi and home to a large corporate population that views itself as global citizens. The project is flanked by the majestic Aravalli hills, which moderates the harsh dusty climate of the adjacent Thar Desert. This project maximizes the residents’ opportunity to interact with the outside, an intrinsic part of traditional Indian lifestyles. To address the transition of lifestyle of a predominantly low-rise, bungalow living population of this region, where urbanisation and migratory pressures have resulted in high-rise living, this project aims to be that bridge, bringing the bungalow to a high-rise format. These elevated wrap-around spaces provide rain protection along with shading, tempering the outdoor environment in such a way so as to make it usable for a far greater part of the year. They also were designed as a cost-control construction measure where each ‘verandah’ acted as staging for the floor above. The Mahindra Luminare project attempts to create an identity, to give each family a villa in the sky, large outdoor spaces with no visual intrusion and a unique individual sense of entry.
