A portico is an architectural feature consisting of a roofed area supported by columns, often forming a grand entrance to a building. Found in classical and neoclassical architecture, porticos provide shelter, visual prominence, and a sense of formality. They may span the full width of a façade or frame a single doorway, and are often accompanied by pediments or stairs to enhance their impact.
